Scorpion & Spiders

As temperatures increase across San Antonio, many species of spiders and scorpions will seek to move from exterior habitats to homes and businesses—any place to avoid the heat. Here’s a look at our process for spider pest control and scorpion pest control.

• Inspect the exterior and interior of the property to identify the species of scorpion or spider, then develop a plan to exterminate them.
• Clear and treat external and internal spaces where spiders and scorpions breed and seek shelter.
• Create a perimeter of protection using specific insecticides, extending from exterior structures, windows, and doors to interior baseboards, closets, and attics.
• Seal entry points and lay glueboards in tough areas.

Scorpions and spiders are not the same pest, but their behavior is remarkably similar. Species of spiders, such as the brown recluse and black widow, are dangerous to family members. Scorpion infestations are not life-threatening, but they are unacceptable to live with, so let’s get started.

Wasps & Hornets

Wasps and hornets are dangerous insects to children and small pets, and the steps to take to handle wasp nests are the same for yellow jackets.

• Conduct an inspection of exterior and interior spaces to locate where wasps and hornets are nesting.
• Once nests are located, professional-grade residual insecticides or aerosol “knock-down” sprays (much stronger than consumer products) are used to destroy wasps or hornets. Ground nests are best controlled with insecticide powder.
• Remove the nest(s) and apply another pass of insecticide to areas of entry.
• Seal gaps and cover vents with mesh, and remove food sources (like uncovered trash or pet food) to make the area less attractive for future nesting.

Ants

• Evaluate the extent of the ant infestation and the species of ant.
• Deploy kid and pet-safe chemical compounds that attack the ant’s central nervous system and eliminate the queen.
• Secure all entry points with repellent to prevent reentry.

Termites

• Conduct an inspection in areas where there are sources of organic fiber (such as wood) and evaluate the damage.
• Locate the source of the infestation, including potential entry points in the foundation.
• For moderate infestations, a combination of deterrence (laying diatomaceous earth around the home) and extermination (using liquid or foam termiticides, boric acid, vinegar, and other pet- and people-safe chemicals) will effectively kill the termites and keep your property safe.
• For severe, drywood infestations, direct wood treatment is necessary, ranging from heat treatment to fumigation.

Bed Bugs
